What is the lone star list?
The Lone Star Reading List is developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table. The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books.
How are Lone Star books chosen?
Each year, 20 books- exploring a variety of topics, reading tastes, and maturity levels- are chosen by a committee of school and public librarians from across Texas.

The book must be favorably reviewed in a scholarly journal for grades 6, 7, or 8. The person making the nomination must have read the book. Only one book per author per genre may be included on the list. Titles shall be nominated that reflect a variety of difficulty levels for readers in grades 6-8.
