In Living Learning Communities (LLCs), students who share a common interest live and study together. Not only do LLCs ease your academic and social transition to USD, they expand your intellectual curiosity beyond the classroom, and establish an immediate sense of community with your faculty and fellow residents.
Can you choose your roommate at USD?
Can I choose my roommate? Part of the housing application includes providing information about your personal, academic, and social preferences in your living environment. Residential Life uses that information to create roommate matches for all first-year students. Therefore, you do not choose your roommate yourself.

Residence halls have been completely remodeled (2021). Lounges feature cooking and living areas and are air conditioned. The rooms accommodate two to four residents. Residents share communal bathrooms.

Each suite has 8 residents living in single or double bedrooms. Each suite has its own common room and two bathrooms to be shared by the residents of the suite.
Is USD a good party school?
There are great deals for studying abroad, as well, with so many places to choose from. Work hard and play hard! USD is not known for being a party school, but like anything in life, you make your own experiences. So if you like to party, you’re sure to find plenty of people on campus who will party with you.
