What does SSAO mean in graphics?
Screen space ambient occlusion
Screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) is a computer graphics technique for efficiently approximating the ambient occlusion effect in real time.
What is SSAO unity?
The Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) image effect approximates Ambient Occlusion in realtime, as an image post-processing effect. It darkens creases, holes and surfaces that are close to each other. In real life, such areas tend to block out or occlude ambient light, hence they appear darker.
Is SSAO realistic?
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion While revolutionary at the time, SSAO is not true ambient occlusion. Instead of taking into account all elements in the world, it simply considers a pixel and the pixels around it. This allows the game to approximate semi-realistic shadow effects.
Is SSAO necessary?
You do not have to use it if you feel it lowers performance too much for your liking, or you may like it and can afford to trade a few frames per second for improved shadow and depth perception. The effect may be subtle, it mostly works on subconsciousness level, but once you get used to it, it may be hard to go back.
What’s better SSAO or HBAO?
H*AO offers better quality but with an increased performance hit. SSAO is less accurate but improves image quality with a much smaller performance penalty.
Which is better SSAO or HBAO?
With the help of geometry, it’s much more effective at rendering shadows and lighting. The major disadvantage of HBAO is that, unlike SSAO, it requires more processing power in both the CPU and GPU. Later, HBAO+ was introduced to provide a less performance-tasking algorithm of light and shadow sampling.
Whats better SSAO or HDAO?
H*AO offers better quality but with an increased performance hit. SSAO is less accurate but improves image quality with a much smaller performance penalty. If you’re going to use H*AO, from what I understand you should select HDAO if you have an ATI card or HBAO if you have an nVIDIA card.
Is SSAO better than HBAO?
Does ambient occlusion affect FPS?
So far the only thing that works is turning Ambient Occlusion up to High or Ultra, which eliminates the fps drop in confined areas but replaces it with a general fps drop for the whole game.
Does TAA decrease FPS?
TXAA does not affect the FPS.
