The Queenstown gondola takes about 5 minutes to get from bottom to top and the same amount of time to get down again.
Can you do the Queenstown luge without gondola?
No. The Luge tracks will not take you down to the Gondola base. You will complete all Luge rides at the end of the Luge track which is at the Skyline complex. Once all Luge rides and other activities are completed, you can then take the Gondola back down to the base.

Take the Gondola up to Skyline. Follow the walking track up to the Luge and take the signposted track to the Paragliders. Pass the reservoir and keep walking uphill till signposted to Lower Ridge Track.

How long does each Luge ride take?
It really depends on the numbers of people. We went in the morning and it was reasonably busy. I would suggest that you allow at least an hour and a half. We were there at least two and a half hours as we went to their souvenir shop (which was excellent ) and had coffee and went to the viewing platform to take photos.

What happens if it rains during luge?
Operations will temporarily stop in the event of thunder and lightning. Our Luge and Skyride operate as normal in a slight drizzle and will only stop in the event that heavy rain would impact your safety.
Does luge have weight limit?
There are no weight restrictions for the chairlift or Luge.
Are there brakes in luge?
A flat sled with bars on either side for the racer to hold on to as they lie down. Racers steer by angling their body on the track’s twists and turns. The sled has no brakes.
Is the luge scary?
Being someone who is scared of heights, nevertheless I decided to take the plunge and took the skyride since my two kids are raring to go. Good grief! the moment the skyride took off, I could feel my heart pounding madly before I burst into tears. TERRIFYING RIDE!!
